Painting Kit Fisto
A guide on how I painted the Kit Fisto head cast.
Head cast is from Gi_joe_eben on eBay.
All paints are from Citadel/Games workshop. And you will need:
Death World Forest
Nurgling Green
Ogryn Camo
Bugman’s Glow
Mournfang Brown
Black
Coelia Greenshade
Gloss Varnish
First, start with a base coat of Death World Green. That was followed by dry brushing Nurgling Green.
Next, take Death World Forest, thin this down to make a wash and cover the head. When dry, re-dry brush with Nurgling Flesh and then Ogryn Camo.
Step 3. Using the watered down Death World Forest, flick this thinned paint mixture over the head to create Kit Fisto’s natural spots. Don’t worry if these look harsh; they will be blended and softened in layer stages in later steps.
Mix a glaze medium with Bugman’s Glow and apply around Kit Fisto’s eyes and the recesses of the tendrils. Eyes are also base coated in black. I find blocking in the eye colour on large alien eyes early on helpful as it helps ground all the other colours and elements. Being black, they are also easy to clean up towards the end.
Once dry, another coat of the Death World Forest wash to soften up the browns; you’ll want to thin this wash with a little more water or glaze medium. Once dry, drybrush a light application of a mixture of Nurgling Green and Ogryn Camo.
The next step is to start to apply Coelia Greenshade. Focus on the tips of the Tendrils and deepest recesses and a very light wash around the eyes. You will want to thin the greenshade to give you more control over its strength; this will mean more layers to get a lovely dark green on the tendrils and provide a smoother transition. Working in layers, start the first wash with the larges area, and each successive layer covers less and less, so the tips are much darker and create an ombre/gradient effect.
Final Stage. Paint the tendril bands with Mournfang Brown.
Bugman’s Glow is painted on the lips and around the eyes. You can blend this by dabbing off excess paint with a finger. Then, re-apply/touch up the black on the eyes.
Apply Gloss varnish to the eyes and a small dab to the lips.
The head is all finished and shown on Young Han Solo. This head is also perfect for the Kit Fisto kit, which uses a modified Marvel Legends Spiderman body. Complete tutorial on how to make Kit Fisto can be found here.
